Month One on Accutane (Isotretinoin)
February 7th, 2008
WARNING: Accutane is a serious drug that can have long term effects on your liver, skin, joints and more. Try the Acne Products out there first. We recommend Murad Acne Complex.
Suuup bitches…
So my first month on Accutane is officially over! I have successfully taken all of the pills and tomorrow, if all goes well, I will get prescribed a whole new month at my dermatologist appointment. Honestly, my dermatologist is absolutely terrible. They faxed in my pregnancy test papers for me to take the blood work on Friday at my school mini-lab. I had a feeling that this one test wouldn’t be enough and I only had that Friday to get the tests (considering my appointment is on Monday). So the lab people told me not to worry about it because they probably know what they are doing (ppsshh!) So I obviously had to call and then they realized they had to fax me over more tests (just to check if everything was going OK otherwise). Long story short, I had to get stuck by the needle 2 times and it was so horrible…I hate getting my blood drawn = ( …the prices you pay for accutane!
So things are pretty much the same since last week. The only thing I really did different this week was work out on the treadmill for a little bit. I didn’t get too dehydrated or overheated (or so I think). Overall, my face is significantly better than from when I started this acne treatment. It really freaked me out that I was going to commit to such a long treatment but I am really happy that I did, I hope that things just keep getting better from here. I am sure if you are reading this you have researched accutane a little bit but in case you haven’t, you should know that there is a lot of hype surrounding issues of depression being correlated with this pill. As of now, I would have to say that I am no more depressed than I was when I had started. My face was a main reason for feeling bad about myself before so the better it gets, the happier I get actually lol. I personally haven’t noticed any changes in my mood that would be directly related to starting accutane. I did notice a side effect, weight gain! Haha, i’m kidding…I just really want this recent weight gain to be blamed on something other than myself lol…Contrary to what I would like to believe, accutane can actually make you LOSE weight-always a plus = ) That’s pretty much all that’s new. Lips still dry, face still a little dry, and skin still getting better! Keep it up Accutane!

Hi everybody,
I’m on my final month of accutane and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. My very severe acne has completely cleared and my dermatologist says it shouldn’t come back.
I have a skin disorder call Ichthyosis where I have extremely dry skin, so going on accutane was really scary for me as my skin would further dry out.
My dry skin has gotten worse, but I’m as happy as can be, because the acne is gone. The dry skin will improve once I’m off the accutane and can be treated with moisturiser containing ureum.
As for weight gain - I’ve actually lost about 26 lbs (12kg). I don’t think it has anything to do with the drug, but because I started feeling better about my face, I began taking better care of my body.
Hope you guys have the same good experience that I had.
