Accutane (Isotretinoin) Week Five
February 19th, 2008
WARNING: Accutane is a serious drug that can have long term effects on your liver, skin, joints and more. Try the Acne Products out there first. We recommend Murad Acne Complex.
It is Week 5 of my Accutane (Isotretinoin) Treatment aka Claravis. After one month of the 30 mg pills, I had to go back to the dermatologist in order to be written a prescription for the next month. I believe I have 5 months in total to go through before this is overrrrr. It is such a pain in the ass for me to go home for this appointment (because I live at my college). I also had to go on the ipledge program website to fill out a little “quiz” of true and false questions before I was granted permission to go to the pharmacy and pick up the pills. Don’t forget that we have around a 7 day window to pick up these pills before you lose the chance to so it is really important to get them when you can. Now, to the juicy details…
Dry Skin: My face is still really dry but this is SO much better than it being oily! I know that Accutane (commonly mispelled as Acutane) is supposed to dry out your oil glands so that is a huge plus. My nose was usually where my oil was concentrated so it makes me sooo happy that the shine is now just my shiny face and not the oily mess it was before!
Breakouts: I have been breaking out pretty bad recently and my dermatologist told me that I would flare up for the next couple of weeks so, hopefully, this is no cause for concern. My breakouts are of the cystic or nodular kind and not so much superficial. Let’s hope they go away realllllllll soon. If not, maybe I will haveta up my dosage = (
Lips: My lips are still really dry and moisturizing chapstick is as necessary as ever. I really prefer the actual chapstick as opposed to the almost liqudy kind that certain brands sell. I just feel like that kind dissolves a lot quicker and is inefficient overall.
Body: My hair has been really oily my whole life (I useda haveta shower 2x a day just to keep it under control). I heard that a lot of people’s scalps got so dry that they started getting dandruff…I can only hope! As of right now, I haven’t noticed anything different when it comes to my hair but I just hope that the oil in my hair will peace out too! Oh, a girl can only hope… Also, the tanning experiment is still in the process of contemplation…i’ll let you know.
